Why is the election May 24?

It's the primary - when voters choose the Republican and Democratic candidates who will face off in November. BUT - the local election in White County has only Republican candidates. Those candidates will be chosen during the primary. The only chance you have to choose between the local candidates is the primary, May 24

Early voting, both advanced and in-person, begins Monday, May 2. In November, you'll be voting on the state races, such as governor, lt. governor, secretary of state, General Assembly and congressional races.

Board members adopt policies, set the system budget and the millage rate - affecting all landowners in the county. They authorize spending and hire personnel based on the school superintendent's recommendation. They oversee the construction and renovation of the buildings and facilities. They hear final appeals for student and personal-related matters. They make sure that White County schools' instructional programs meet the requirements of state and federal law.
